QPWB Miami office partners and Civil Trial Specialists George L. Fernandez and Dexter Romanez were speakers and presenters at the Florida Defense Lawyers Association’s 2019 Florida Liability Claims Conference in Orlando. On June 6, 2019, they collaborated with an intensive and detailed (standing-room only) presentation on defending spinal injury claims in Florida.
The presentation included a discussion on the medicine involved in the defense of spinal injury claims; the use of key authoritative medical studies to challenge treating surgeons; discovery and trial impeachment techniques; and key defense strategies developed to defend high exposure spinal injury claims and lawsuits.
George L. Fernandez, a partner in the Miami office is a Florida Bar Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and, since 1997, has maintained an AV® Peer Review rating in the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory. Mr. Fernandez’s practice is emphasized in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, construction law, aviation, and commercial litigation. He has handled and tried various multi- million-dollar claims involving catastrophic injuries such as brain injury, paralysis, and death. He has been recognized by the South Florida Legal Guide as a “Top South Florida Lawyer” in the area of insurance litigation and as a Super Lawyer for many years. He regularly defends high exposure spinal injury claims at trial throughout the State of Florida.
Dexter Romanez, a partner in the Miami office, is a trial lawyer with expertise in civil litigation and is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Education and Specialization. He has handled and tried various personal injury cases involving multiple surgeries, DUI, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death. His practice is focused in the areas of automobile negligence, trucking negligence, premise liability, and products liability. Mr. Romanez is an approved instructor for adjuster continuing education by the Florida Department of Financial Services, and has lectured on trial techniques and strategies to insurance companies and claims professionals throughout Florida.
