Joanna Garcia Parkin is Of Counsel to the Tampa office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  She represents businesses and individuals with transactional and litigation matters. Ms. Parkin handles matters regarding business contracts, first-party insurance property claims, insurance coverage and bad faith issues, and various other business and real property disputes. She has substantial experience representing matters involving business torts, the Interstate Land Sales Act, and the Florida Condominium Act.

Ms. Parkin is owner and managing attorney of her law practice in St. Petersburg, Florida. She has over 15 years of experience as a commercial litigator and has achieved the highest Peer Review Rating™ attainable, AV-Preeminent® in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.  She is also recognized by Florida Super Lawyers® 2018 and 2019 listings and had previously been selected as a “Rising Star” for five consecutive years. As a result of being ranked by her peers as one of Florida’s Top Lawyers, she has been selected to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite listing of 2017, 2018 and 2019. She is named in The American Registry as one of “America’s Most Honored Professionals.”

Ms. Parkin earned a dual Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration cum laude from Stetson University College of Law, St. Petersburg, Florida in 2000 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences, with highest honors, from American International College, Springfield, Massachusetts in 1996.

While in law school, Ms. Parkin served as a federal judicial legal intern in the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.  Upon graduation, she served as Judicial Law Clerk to The Honorable Mary S. Scriven in the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.  Before opening her own law practice, Ms. Parkin worked as a complex business litigation attorney for Carlton Fields, P.A. in Tampa, where she had been a Shareholder since 2008.

Ms. Parkin is licensed to practice law in Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  She is also admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.  

She is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association (where she served as past president from 2008-2010), and the American Bar Association (where she previously served as an ambassador of the Business Law Section).  As a member of The Florida Bar, Ms. Parkin has served as former co-chair of the Education Committee of the Equal Opportunity Law Section, and was a member of the CLE Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Committee. 

Ms. Parkin is a previous recipient of the 13th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Lawyer.

She was born in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands and is fluent in Spanish.
