Todd Michael Smayda is a partner in the Tampa office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. where he practices in the areas of medical and nursing malpractice, pharmacy negligence, labor and employment law, and general liability defense.  Mr. Smayda represents fire districts and municipal clients in employment cases and in Whistleblower actions.  In these areas, he has obtained several trial victories on Motion for Summary Judgment.  He is regularly retained to represent claims brought against pharmacies specifically in matters involving OxyContin.

Mr. Smayda is a native of the Tampa Bay area. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration on technical writing from the University of South Florida in 1993. He was awarded a Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 1998.  In his final year of law school, he was placed at the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office as one of Florida’s Certified Legal Interns.  He prosecuted misdemeanor cases in bench and jury trials.  Mr. Smayda is also a graduate of the Defense Research Institute’s Trial Academy (1999).

Prior to joining Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. in 2006, he was an associate with a statewide medical malpractice defense firm.  In the past 16 years of practice, Mr. Smayda has represented various healthcare providers and fire districts throughout the state of Florida, from the Panhandle to Naples.

Smayda is a member of Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Florida Bar.  He is admitted to practice law in all courts in the State of Florida and in the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
