Edward C. Prieto is a founding partner of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. and practices from the firm's Miami office. His areas of practice include insurance defense, medical malpractice and nursing home defense litigation.
Mr. Prieto has earned various defense verdicts in general liability, medical malpractice and nursing home matters. One of his defense verdicts was recognized by The National Law Journal as one of the country’s “Top 20 Defense Verdicts” in a case of nursing home negligence on behalf of a Florida healthcare facility. Since 2003, Mr. Prieto has been recognized by the South Florida Legal Guide among the “Top Lawyers in South Florida” in the areas of nursing home defense litigation and insurance defense. In 2009, Mr. Prieto was selected as a Top Attorney by Florida Trend’s “Legal Elite” in the area of civil trials and was named to Florida Super Lawyers 2010 listing in the area of personal injury defense. His courtroom accomplishments have also been featured on MSNBC’s “Winners Circle.”
A graduate of Florida State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1986, Mr. Prieto earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center in 1990.
He first practiced law in Daytona Beach, where he was Assistant State Attorney in the office of the State Attorney of the Seventh Judicial District. In 1993, Mr. Prieto returned to Miami and began practicing in the areas of civil litigation and criminal defense law. In 1998, he became a founding member of the firm.
Mr. Prieto is admitted to practice in Florida. He is a member of the Florida Bar and the Defense Research Institute.
