nathaniel_kissel_webNathaniel (“Nate”) R. Kissel is an associate in the Lexington office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Mr. Kissel focuses his practice on professional negligence defense.  He also has substantial experience in the insolvency area, emphasizing bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, creditors’ rights, workouts and commercial litigation in several industries, including retail, health care, transportation, manufacturing, REITs, and financial institutions.  Mr. Kissel represents financial institutions and other secured creditors in workouts and complex Chapter 11 reorganization cases.  He also represents many interests in Chapter 7 liquidation cases, as well as individuals in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings.

Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Kissel practiced with a Lexington law firm in the Debtor/Creditor Relations Practice Group handling and overseeing the representation of Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 bankruptcies for numerous banking and secured creditors; including state court and federal collection matters for both consumer and commercial interests.

Mr. Kissel received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2009 and his Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky in 2003.  During law school, he served as Notes Editor for the Kentucky Law Journal.  Mr. Kissel was also a two-year member of the UK Law Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Team, and awarded Best Oral Argument for Petitioner, Trimble Writing Club.  He also worked as a summer associate and as a law clerk for two Lexington law firms.

Before commencing law school, Mr. Kissel worked as a Staff Writer and photographer for The Oldham Era in La Grange, Kentucky where he won several awards from the Kentucky Press Association for news coverage, investigative reporting, feature stories, editorials and columns.

Mr. Kissel is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is also admitted in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky; U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky; and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

In his community, Mr. Kissel serves as Chapter Advisor for the Kappa Chapter, Phi Kappa Tau at the University of Kentucky.
