Hans M. Pfaffenberger is an associate in the Louisville office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Mr. Pfaffenberger is an experienced civil litigator focusing in the areas of insurance defense and general liability at both the state and federal level.  Specifically, his practice encompasses all aspects of personal injury defense, insurance defense and the analysis and litigation of both coverage and bad faith issues; product liability, and construction defect litigation.  Mr. Pfaffenberger represents clients throughout all phases of the litigation process including mediation and settlement negotiations.

Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Pfaffenberger had an active civil litigation practice with a Louisville law firm.  As a trial attorney practicing in the Insurance Defense Group, he obtained favorable client verdicts at trial and by motion practice.  He has successfully addressed a variety of legal matters, several involving novel issues, and participated with the representation of clients throughout litigation including post-trial appellate practice and mediation.

A trial attorney since 2002, Mr. Pfaffenberger began his legal career serving as a staff attorney with the Office of the Louisville Metro Public Defender, Adult Trial Division, where he handled several hundreds of pretrial and trial cases in a heavy-caseload criminal defense practice.  Among his accomplishments, Mr. Pfaffenberger acted as first-chair trial counsel in eight cases within a two-year period, including murder, robbery, and abuse of an adult by a caretaker; he served as co-counsel on two cases appearing before the Kentucky Court of Appeals regarding issues of first impression; and he successfully presented oral argument before the Court of Appeals resulting in the reversal of a manslaughter conviction.  He was selected to attend the Trial Practice Institute at the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia in 2004 and the Defender Advocacy Institute at the National Legal Aid and Defender Association in 2003.

Mr. Pfaffenberger received his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2002 and his Bachelor of Arts from Transylvania University at Lexington, Kentucky in 1999.

Mr. Pfaffenberger is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is also admitted in the U.S.  District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.   Mr. Pfaffenberger is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association, Kentucky Defense Counsel, and Defense Research Institute.
