Mary E. Schaffner is a partner in the Louisville office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. She represents employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense before administrative bodies and trial courts. Her practice also includes handling subrogation claims and insurance defense litigation. Since 1992 Ms Schaffner has represented employers, carriers, self-insured companies and servicing agents in trials and in hearings before Administrative Law Judges. She regularly appears before the Workers’ Compensation Board, the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court of Kentucky.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Schaffner was an attorney with a Louisville law firm where she developed a broad background in workers’ compensation defense. Previously, she was a staff attorney and litigation specialist with the Kentucky Special Fund where she also practiced in all areas of workers’ compensation law.
Ms. Schaffner received her Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 1992 and her Bachelor of Arts, from Centre College of Kentucky. During law school, Ms. Schaffner was a law clerk with the State of Kentucky, Special Fund.
Ms. Schaffner is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is also admitted in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

Ms. Schaffner is a frequent lecturer on workers’ compensation law. She counsels new clients on the administration of workers’ compensation claims, claims management and cost containment, accident investigation, and related matters. She also provides continuing education seminars for existing clients.
