Howard Walton is an associate with the Jacksonville office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  Mr. Walton’s practice focuses on representing a wide range of clients in real estate and construction related litigation including lien and mortgage foreclosures, creditors’ claims in bankruptcy, defense of lender liability counterclaims in foreclosure cases, title disputes, and breach of contract and construction defect claims.  Mr. Walton also provides clients with representation in real estate transactions, including contract negotiation and preparation, assistance with title and lending documentation, and handling of closings.  In addition to the foregoing, Mr. Walton represents health care providers and other professionals in liability litigation, and represents clients in general business litigation and arbitration.

Prior to joining Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., Mr. Walton was affiliated with two different Jacksonville area firms from 2004 to 2010, practicing in the areas of real estate and construction related litigation, and professional liability litigation.

Mr. Walton began his legal career with the United States Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG Corps) in 2000. He continues to serve in Navy Reserve JAG program, and recently completed a one year mobilization and deployment in support of detainee operations in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  In connection with his naval service, Mr. Walton has been awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (twice).

Mr. Walton is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar and Jacksonville Bar Association.  He is also admitted in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Walton received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 2000 and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Claremont McKenna College in 1994.
