
Jeannette M. Conrad is a partner with the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Conrad practices in the areas of bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and workouts, consumer law, and litigation with particular emphasis in bankruptcy. Ms. Conrad’s practice focuses on the protection and defense of creditors in bankruptcy/adversary proceedings in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases, ranging from issues relating to lien strips, fraudulent conveyances, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), pre-packaged bankruptcies, preference actions (with an emphasis on preference actions involving ERISA/self-funded insurance policies) and issues relating to D&O insurance policies. Her bankruptcy practice is entirely focused on the protection and representation of creditors. Ms. Conrad has represented the FDIC in Bank Holding Company bankruptcies. She oversees and manages a multi-state/jurisdiction bankruptcy practice. In litigation matters, she has managed a portfolio that covered the entire state of Indiana and most recently a national bankruptcy and replevin program. She also handles multi-state commercial and consumer foreclosures.
Ms. Conrad’s experience includes managing all aspects of cases in discovery, depositions, evidentiary hearings, mediation, settlement negotiation, and trials. Ms. Conrad’s consumer law defense experience includes handling litigation involving federal and state law arising under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA); Consumer Protection Statutes; contract disputes, insurance defense, and counter claims.
Ms. Conrad received her Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2003 and her Bachelor of Science cum laude from Sullivan College in Louisville, Kentucky. Currently, Ms. Conrad is completing a Master of Laws in Financial Services at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She is expected to receive an LL.M. in Financial Services with an emphasis in Bankruptcy in 2012.
Ms. Conrad is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky; U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Kentucky Bar Association and American Bankruptcy Institute.
Ms. Conrad shares her knowledge through frequent speaking engagements with trade groups and provides training for clients. She has presented bankruptcy related topics for Lorman Education Services and the Indiana Bankers Association. She is co-author of “Bankruptcy Reforms Sweeps the Nation,” Hoosier Banker. Ms. Conrad has a published case, Schlarman v. Hahn (In re Hahn), 2005 Bankr. Lexis 133 (Bankr. E.D. Ky. 2005).
