David W. Nilsen is an associate at Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. and practices from the firm’s Tampa office. He focuses his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home defense, general liability, and auto/trucking and commercial fleet defense litigation.
Mr. Nilsen received his Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 2002. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1993. While at USF, he earned an Army ROTC scholarship and was a member of the baseball team from 1990-1991.
Mr. Nilsen was an officer of the United States Army Reserves. He spent 12 years in the Transportation Corps where he trained, led, and commanded soldiers in cargo hauling operations.
Before attending law school, Mr. Nilsen was a police officer with the City of St. Petersburg. While with the department, Mr. Nilsen was a member of the DUI Task Force.
Mr. Nilsen’s background in military transportation operations and in law enforcement, offer a unique perspective in the representation of matters related to the transportation industry and in the areas of investigations and defense litigation.
Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Nilsen was an associate at the law firm of McCumber, Daniels, Buntz, Hartig & Puig, P.A. in Tampa, Fla., where he focused his practice in the areas of civil litigation, nursing home defense, general liability, and auto/trucking defense.
Mr. Nilsen is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted to practice law in Florida courts and Northern and Middle District Federal Courts.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Nilsen served in Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he earned a Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Mr. Nilsen is a proud member of the Reserve Officer Association, the USF Alumni Association, the Bulls Varsity Club, the Sigma Chi Alumni Association, and his church.
