George F. Quintairos is the founder of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., and serves as the Managing Partner of the firm’s Litigation and Trial Group. He is a 1990 graduate of the Florida State University College of Law where he was chosen the recipient of the “Trial Advocacy Book Award,” an award bestowed upon the top trial advocate. Since graduating law school, Mr. Quintairos has focused most of his practice on defending the healthcare industry, representing physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and their insurers. He is an accomplished and experienced trial lawyer and has successfully tried high exposure healthcare and other liability cases in some of the country’s most difficult venues including Florida, Texas and Mississippi.
Mr. Quintairos has earned numerous defense verdicts in general liability, medical malpractice, and high profile long-term care cases including those involving nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and has done so against some of the top Plaintiff firms in several states. In 2001, when five nursing home cases made the National Law Journal’s Top 100 Plaintiff’s Verdicts, Mr. Quintairos achieved a defense verdict on behalf of Sarasota Healthcare Center, a verdict which was recognized by the National Law Journal as one of the country’s “Top 20 Defense Verdicts.” His courtroom accomplishments and trial record have also been featured on MSNBC’s “Winner’s Circle.”
Mr. Quintairos is panel counsel for numerous national and international insurance groups and is a frequent speaker to professionals, employers, and insurance companies on nursing, physician and healthcare facility liability issues. He has spoken on a variety of subjects including medical documentation, physician-patient relationships, nursing-patient relationships, family-patient expectation management, and other liability-related subjects.
Mr. Quintairos serves on the President’s Council of the Assisted Living Federation of America, is a member of the Florida Medical Malpractice Claims Council, and a number of civil defense associations; including the Defense Research Institute, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the American Healthcare Association, the Florida Healthcare Association, the Florida Hospital Association, and the Florida Assisted Living Association.
Mr. Quintairos has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1991, and has also successfully tried cases in Texas and Mississippi on a Pro Hac Vice basis.
