Edmy Cortijo-Villock is an associate in the firm’s Business, Financial Services & Real Estate Division in Miami, Florida. For over 10 years, she has represented creditors and lending institutions in a wide variety of civil litigation matters including mediation in the areas of bankruptcy, debt collections, replevins and residential and commercial foreclosures, landlord/tenant disputes, and evictions.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Cortijo-Villock was managing attorney with a South Florida law firm specializing in foreclosures and collections, where she managed creditor/servicer representation for the law firm’s Puerto Rico Foreclosure Division involving all aspects of collections, foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, title, litigation, appeals and compliance matters in state and federal courts and before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the Puerto Rico Appellate and Supreme Courts. Her experience also includes representing corporate clients and government entities in cases involving joint liability lawsuits, consumer protection, and trademark infringement.
Ms. Cortijo-Villock received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 2010 and Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Puerto Rico in 2005.
She is licensed to practice law in Florida and Puerto Rico and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
