Shirley Lydia San is an associate in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. San’s practice primarily focuses on workers’ compensation defense. Ms. San handles all aspects of litigation and timely identification of Medicare/Medicaid compliance issues. Ms. San’s representation involves the defense of employers, self-insured employers and their insurance carriers, for rapid resolution of claims through settlement or trial, including appeals to the Illinois Worker’s Compensation Commission and the Circuit Court of multiple Illinois counties. Ms. San also has experience in subrogation and third party claims to protect client’s interests and secure recovery of the workers’ compensation lien.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. San was an associate attorney at two downtown Chicago law firms. She practiced criminal defense, domestic relations, civil, chancery, and law division claims in Cook, DuPage, and Lake County.
Ms. San received her Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois in June 2012 and Bachelor of Arts from Southern Illinois University in May 2007, graduating with a major in political science and administration of justice.
While in law school, Ms. San was a member of the Dean’s List and the Moot Court Honors Program. She competed in various moot court regional and national competitions, placing for Top Oralist and Best Brief. Ms. San served on the executive board of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Ms. San was also member of the American Corporate Counsel Chicago Minority Summer Internship Program. She was a legal intern at both McDonald’s Corporation and Navistar, Inc., working in the Worker’s Compensation, Real Estate, Finance, and Corporate Compliance Departments.
Ms. San is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is also a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Association.
Ms. San is proficient in Mandarin Chinese, a volunteer leader for the Girls Scout of the United States of America, a mentor with Lawyers in the Classroom, and on the Board of Trustees for The San Foundation to benefit school children in a third world country.
