Francesco J. Palanda is a partner in the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.   Mr. Palanda is an experienced trial lawyer who practices in the areas of commercial litigation, real estate, first and third party insurance defense, labor and employment, and title insurance.

Mr. Palanda represents corporations in cases involving breach of contract and business torts, including fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, securities violations, civil conspiracy, and civil theft actions. He has handled litigation against some of the world’s largest real estate developers, including the Related Group, Africa Israel, and Boymelgreen.  Mr. Palanda has litigated bad faith and coverage actions and has broad experience advising and representing insurers on first party and third party coverage matters regarding all aspects of insurance defense and issues arising under general liability defense, automobile liability, property damage, employment practices claims, medical malpractice defense and nursing home litigation.  Mr. Palanda has been recognized in Florida Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in Business Litigation.  He is a certified criminal conflict counsel for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Palanda was a senior associate managing litigation for a South Florida law firm, where he was responsible for all cases involving first party insurance defense.  Mr. Palanda handled all stages and aspects of civil litigation, including first party and third party insurance defense, commercial, personal injury, and labor and employment.  Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Palanda served as an assistant state attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony offenses, conducted jury and bench trials, and managed all aspects of case preparation and jury selection.

Mr. Palanda received his Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law in 2004 and Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Social Science from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 2001.  He graduated from law school in the top third of his class and served as chair of the National Lawyers Guild.  He was a legal intern with the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office in Portland, Maine, served as a student attorney with the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Maine School of Law, and interned with the Felony Division at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office.

Mr. Palanda is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar.  He is also admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
