John F. Asmar
John F. Asmar is an associate in the Pensacola office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Mr. Asmar has concentrated more than 10 years of practice in the areas of complex civil litigation, commercial litigation, real estate, land use and eminent domain; environmental law, insurance defense, automobile negligence, premise liability, construction defect, personal injury, and wrongful death.
Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Asmar was founder of his law practice in Pensacola, Florida established in 2007 where he served as a trial attorney offering traditional legal services both in simple and complex civil litigation in numerous areas of practices. Previously, he practiced in the areas of real estate and land use, environmental and governmental law in Southwest Florida. In addition to his experience in the legal field, he has over 14 years of professional managerial and advisory experience in local government serving communities throughout the State of Florida as City Manager for the City of Homestead, Florida; Assistant City Manager for North Miami Beach, Florida; Administrator for Planning and Development Services for the City of Clearwater, Florida; and Assistant County Administrator for Escambia County, Florida. From 2011-2013, he served as Chief of Staff for the Mayor of the City of Pensacola, Florida during the transformation to the Strong Mayor form of government.
Mr. Asmar has a wealth of knowledge and passion for public service. He is an experienced state and local legislative liaison. He has represented private businesses, local governments and authorities, statewide organizations and individuals before local and state governments, and the Florida Legislature. Mr. Asmar is a frequent speaker on various topics concerning local and statewide issues such as economic development, smart growth, sustainable communities, environmental protection, neighborhood services, crime prevention, community redevelopment, consumer protection and disaster recovery and relief.
Mr. Asmar received his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 2004, a Master of Public Administration from the University of West Florida in 1990 and Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in 1986, graduating with a major in multinational business. During law school, he received the Book Award in Legal Research and Writing and served as a teaching assistant for legal research and writing and appellant advocacy.
Mr. Asmar is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar. His professional affiliations also include the Escambia Santa Rosa Bar Association. He is a member of the Florida State Booster Club; serves as an advisory board member of the Northwest Florida United Cerebral Palsy; from 2007-2010 he was founding president of Gulf Coast Diplomacy Council.
Mr. Asmar and his family have been active members of the Pensacola community for almost 50 years. He is a native Floridian from Northwest Florida and is a member of the Fiesta of Five Flags.
