James M. Magiera is an associate in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., focusing his practice on workers’ compensation defense matters. Mr. Magiera has represented employers, self-insured employers and their insurance carriers in all aspects of workers’ compensation claims in Illinois and has litigated cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, and the circuit and appellate courts since commencing private practice in 2008. His civil litigation practice also includes labor and employment matters and encompasses the defense of negligence and other tort actions including the defense of Title VII actions and wrongful discharge and discrimination actions. He assists his clients through all phases of the litigation process including arbitration, mediation, motion practice, discovery and trial. Mr. Magiera is included in Illinois Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” and is recognized as an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers Magazine.
Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Magiera was an attorney with an Illinois law firm specializing in workers’ compensation defense actions.
Mr. Magiera received his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois in 2008 and Bachelor of Arts in political science from Columbia University in 2005.
Mr. Magiera is licensed to practice law in Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois Bar and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. And since 2008, is a recurrent member of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association.
