Julie C. Foster is an attorney in the Louisville office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  She focuses on long-term care defense, employment law, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and general liability.  Her practice is also emphasized in the defense of employment-related claims and ERISA claims, including employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, disability leave and accommodation including claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Her practice also includes the areas of insurance defense litigation, Special Investigative Unit (SIU) defense matters and the recovery of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits; property and casualty claims, automobile liability, premises liability and negligent security, and insurer bad faith claims and coverage issues.  

Before joining QPWB, Ms. Foster was a staff attorney with the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet assisting the Department of Corrections with investigation of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaints and representing all federal and state discrimination suits on behalf of the state. Ms. Foster also managed all litigation, investigation, discovery and strategic decisions in professional liability and employment claims as Assistant Vice President at Trilogy Health Services, LLC, a long term care nursing and residential care provider in Louisville. For over seven years, she advised an insurance provider specializing in recovery services on a wide range of employment and Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) issues including the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA), American with Disabilities Act (ADA), wage and hour, Medicare and Federal Employees Health Benefits Act (FEHBA) issues where she managed litigation throughout the country and handled over 200 subrogation cases.

Ms. Foster commenced her legal career working with two Louisville law firms both specializing in defending employment discrimination and ERISA claims, where she worked for 10 years.  She sat as first-chair counsel defending the largest employer in Louisville in a two-week Federal sex and disability discrimination and retaliation case.  She wrote over 30 trial court and appellate briefs, including briefs to the Kentucky and U.S. Supreme Court.  Ms. Foster successfully mediated in over 50 employment discrimination cases and advised clients with unionized workforces on grievances issues. 

Ms. Foster received her Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1994 and a Bachelor of Arts from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky in 1990, graduating with a major in American studies. 

She is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and West Virginia.
