Penny A. Land is an associate in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood &  Boyer, P.A. Ms. Land’s practice is particularly centered in the representation of financial services firms including national banks, national mortgage lenders and servicers in the areas of residential and commercial mortgage foreclosure litigation, post-foreclosure matters, bankruptcy, real estate closings, title curative actions, and probate issues.  Ms. Land has litigated through state and federal courts on behalf of mortgage lenders asserting creditors’ rights with respect to lien priority issues including prosecuting quiet title actions and title claims.

In addition to representing lenders in connection with loan restructures, deed-in-lieu transactions and foreclosure sales free and clear of liens, Ms. Land handles residential real estate transactions.  She has managed and conducted closings for residential and commercial property transactions, she advises on general real estate matters and handles issues involving landlord/tenant disputes, evictions, and debt collection matters. 

Prior to joining QPWB and since 1996, Ms. Land has focused on real estate matters and default servicing and recovery with Chicago based law firms specializing in commercial litigation.  Most recently, she was a supervising attorney of the commercial creditors’ rights and residential mortgage loan default recovery practice group, where she practiced for over 18 years. 

Ms. Land received her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1992 and Bachelor of Science cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago in 1987.

She is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.  She is a Member of the ALFN’s Women in Legal Leadership and Bankruptcy Practice Group.
