Robert C. Rubin is a partner in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  For over 34 years, Mr. Rubin has litigated workers’ compensation cases from inception through final resolution by trial or negotiated settlement.  He represents businesses, self-insureds, third-party administrators and insurance carriers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims.  For 27 years, he has practiced as a certified and chair-qualified Circuit Court Mandatory Arbitrator in Lake and Cook Counties. 

Mr. Rubin’s practice in complex workers’ compensation defense matters customarily involves litigating cases for major insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured trucking companies.  Issues Mr. Rubin regularly addresses include: determination of wages, assigned risk pool ramifications, proper determination of independent contractor status, and jurisdictional issues.  Mr. Rubin represents voluminous cases of workers’ compensation matters from arbitration through appeal; his work encompasses identifying key issues to create legal defenses and proactive strategies. 

Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Rubin was founder of his law practice in Lake Forest, Illinois.  Previously, he served as Of Counsel with two Chicago law firms specializing in workers’ compensation litigation where for 17 years he provided substantive litigation support in workers’ compensation and related personal injury cases on behalf of insurance companies, third-party administrators, and self-insured transportation companies.  He also worked as senior trial and supervising attorney for Fremont Insurance Group.

In addition to his decades-long practice in workers’ compensation defense, Mr. Rubin has served various professional affiliations including: staff attorney for the Tort Litigation Section of the Chicago Transit Authority; chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Industrial Commission Section, and member of the Cook County Circuit Court Nominating and Judicial Evaluation Committee.

Mr. Rubin received his Juris Doctor from Tulane University in 1983 and Bachelor of Arts in English from Drake University in 1977.

He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is a member of the Illinois Bar Association.
