We think differently, we act differently and we are different.
Juneteenth is the oldest national celebration that commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger led Union soldiers to Galveston, Texas and announced that the Civil War had ended and that enslaved persons were now free. It took nearly two and a half years after the signing of the emancipation proclamation for this to happen. Progress does not have to take this long.
As we reflect upon this historic event and the moment that it marks in the history of this county, we are mindful of the need to increase our awareness of the struggles of equality, diversity and inclusion. This awareness can help bring greater strides in action against racial injustice and move to end systemic racism.
Although we are the largest minority and women-owned law firm in the country, we continue to seek to do better. As the collective consciousness of the nation is having an awakening about those who seem to have been left behind, we are proud to say we think differently; we act differently; we are different. A part of that difference is working with our partners to promote a greater understanding of how our differences make us better and stronger together. We invite you to join us and let us make a difference together.
