Doris M. Torres is a partner in the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. She practices in the areas of general civil litigation, first and third party insurance defense, bad faith litigation, and automobile and premises liability.

Previously, she worked with the Center for Family and Child Enrichment as an attorney and program administrator and with the Office of Criminal Conflict and Regional Counsel representing family law matters pertaining to dependency issues, where she handled discovery, motions, writs, appeals and oral arguments.  In private practice, she worked as an attorney with two Miami law offices where as lead attorney she represented Miami Dade County in landlord/tenant cases; she also represented local community health centers in contractual matters, and represented a chained-brand hotel in business law matters.  Ms. Torres has practiced in multiple areas, including corporate and shareholder disputes, contract drafting, employment discrimination and whistleblower actions, personal injury, public records disputes, association disputes and has advocated on behalf of banks with respect to foreclosure actions.

Prior to attending law school, she was a U.S. Probation Officer with the U.S. District Court in Miami, Florida. She was the recipient of the highest recognition, the Chief’s Award, acknowledging her five years of federal work service.   She also worked for the Department of Justice as a Correctional Treatment Specialist.

Ms. Torres received her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law in May 2009; she was awarded a Master of Social Work from Florida International University (FIU) in August 2003 and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice also from FIU in August 1995.

Ms. Torres is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar.
